Parking lot striping cost: what affects the price

Every lot is different. Here is what goes into the price of striping and restriping, so you know what to have ready when you ask for a quote.

1. Number of spaces

For most lots the stall count is the biggest single factor. More spaces means more lines, more layout and more time. If you are not sure of the count, a photo or the property address is enough to start.

2. Restriping or a new layout

Restriping repaints your existing lines right over the faded ones. It is the simplest and quickest kind of job. A new layout means measuring and marking a fresh plan. It is needed after paving or sealcoating covers the old lines, or when you want more spaces, better traffic flow or a corrected ADA count.

3. ADA stalls and signs

Accessible spaces take more work than standard stalls: in Florida each one is outlined in blue, with a striped access aisle, the accessibility symbol and a posted sign. New signs on new posts add to the job. The minimum number of accessible spaces depends on the size of the lot:

At least 1 in 6 accessible spaces must be van-accessible. See the Florida ADA parking guide for the details.

4. Extra markings

Arrows, stop bars, crosswalks, fire lanes, curb paint, stall numbers and words like NO PARKING are priced on top of the stalls. Thermoplastic markings cost more than paint but last much longer in heavy-traffic spots.

5. Surface condition

Paint sticks best to clean, sound pavement. Dirty or oily lots may need cleaning first, and cracks or potholes may need repair. If the lot is due for sealcoating, doing it right before striping gives the sharpest result and a full new layout.

6. Timing, access and location

Night or weekend work, lots that cannot close, phased work in sections and longer travel distances all play a part in the price.

How often to restripe

Most lots need restriping every 1–3 years, depending on traffic, sun and weather. Restriping before the lines disappear completely is simpler than starting from a blank surface.
